Golf, horse riding, gorge walking, sheep herding, steam train rides, castles, boat rides on Windermere are all nearby. Walks and cycling routes are on the doorstep.
Great for families and friends to meet up from all parts of the country being easily accessible from the motorway makes it perfect for get togethers, reunions, that special occasion or just a relaxing holiday, whatever the reason we are sure you will not be disappointed.
All 3 barns at Simgill Farm are 4 Star Gold Award rated through Visit England offering luxurious self catering accommodation.
All 3 barns are very spacious, each barn has its own private walled garden and parking areas. Barn Court Cottage has 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 14-15 guests plus cots. Meadow View Barn on 3 levels has 6 bedrooms and can accommodate 17-18 plus cots and the recently opened Gill Side Barn can also accommodate 17-18 plus cots. All 3 barns have been finished and decorated with comfort and quality in mind. All properties have free WiFi.
Guests staying in the barns are given the opportunity to have a one off close-up encounter with our Alpacas, feed them and experience their placid, inquisitive nature (usually 1/2 hour) An experience not to be missed by both young and old, many previous guests have said it was the highlight of their stay and some have even gone as far as to say it was one of the best experiences of their life so far.
We try to be as organic and green friendly as possible on our Alpaca farm and we are proud to say we have one of the rarest upland meadow fields in Cumbria and slowly we are transforming our other adjoining fields in to meadows. Our water is supplied from a natural spring, as good if not better than bottled water, in our opinion anyway, and we have our own wind turbine supplying electricity to Simgill Farm main house.
We have an ever growing herd of 62 Alpacas which graze the 40 acres and can be seen from the self catering cottages.
